Tip of the Day: Keep BBQ Grills Grease-Free

BBQs are great! The food is great! The cleanup, not so great! As easy way to keep your grills clean after each use is to grab a long two-pronged BBQ fork, a halved onion, and some vegetable oil. Dip the onion in the oil and stab it with the fork. Use this to clean the HOT grates after each use (if you have a gas grill, reheat so the grates are hot). The onion juice contains an enzyme, alliinases, that will break down the grime while the skin acts as an abrasive. The oil softens the grease buildup plus will add a non-stick protection for your next cookout.
