Tip of the Day: Dogs Get Sunburn Too!

If you didn't already realize this, you should protect you dog from the sun's rays, especially if your dog has a short-light colored coat. Use sunscreen formulated for babies or sensitive skin with a SPF of 15 at the least. Be sure to apply to sensitive areas such as the tips of the ears, bridge of the nose, and around the groin and underbelly. VERY IMPORTANT: avoid the area around the eyes and do NOT use sunscreens that contain zinc oxide because it can cause your dog to become anemic if ingested.
