Best price I could find, including looking at Amazon Warehouse.

Additional Heating mats are $14.95 (Most others are $16-$20 range)
The thermostat by itself is $18.95 (Most others are $24-$30 range)
Even without the combo deal this would still be the best deal. The combo deal saves another $3.90.

I'm replacing a decade+ old Sunbeam heating pad that was used for this. (It finally stopped working.)
Heating mats can potentially be used by themselves but a thermostat can help prevent baking or drying out your seeds. This can give you a month or two head start on your garden. Works especially well with peppers as they need a much hotter temp to start germination.

Also have heard of people using these mats and thermostats for reptile aquariums.
