I was browsing thru the Amazon Underground APP which I installed directly from www.amazon.com/underground can only install after checking the "unknown sources" in security settings.
I clicked on the apps and games section. Right on the main app and games screen there was an offer for a $5 Amazon credit if installing one of 20 pre-selected apps.
I installed the game. Within a minute I got the email.

"As a purchaser of select apps or games from Amazon Underground you have earned a $5 promotional credit to your account. This credit will be automatically applied to your next purchase of any eligible item sold and shipped by Amazon .com and is valid through February 26, 2016. Limit one promotional credit per customer."
