Ongoing promo on Fandango 's site through 12/25/15. When buying at least $75 worth of gift cards, enter code JOLLYTKT to receive a free Fandango movie ticket worth up to $15.

You can buy gift cards for yourself and this works just fine. I'm not 100% certain if the free ticket goes to the recipient of the gift card or the buyer, as I bought them for myself, so I was naturally both the buyer and recipient. I assume it goes to the buyer, but you may want to check if you are buying gift cards for someone else.

One word of warning, because I ran into this problem: Fandango counts the "free ticket" as a "promo code" and though ticket purchases, in general, are refundable/exchangeable if you are member of the VIP club (free), promo codes are not. I actually ordered tickets to the wrong showing of a movie because the listings were formatted strangely (the CSR even had trouble interpreting the listing) and Fandango would only refund me the portion of my purchase that came from the gift cards, not the free ticket. So, I was out $15.

I eventually argued my point successfully with a supervisor over e-mail and was credited back the $15, but it was a headache. The problem seems to be that they count the free ticket as a "promo code," like any other random code you can find around the internet, rather than a gift card as that's really what it is.
