I jumped on Canon's outlet store deal last week for a T5 for $209 and I'm sending it back to get this deal, which is even better.. For the equivalent of $10 more than last week's deal on the T5(figuring that the lens is worth $80), the SL1 is smaller, lighter, has a better, sharper lens that works much better in video mode, it focuses faster, has double the ISO capability for better low light performance, has more than double the resolution of the screenplus it's a touch screen, it has a proximity sensor on the viewfinder to shut down the screen when raised to one's eye, it has an external microphone jack,and adust cleaner on the sensor, among other improvements over the T5.

Incidentally, my experience with buying the refurbished T5 last week was within 24 hoursI got separate confirmation e-mails for the order and for shipping with tracking number, it arrived in 3 days with the free ground shipping option, and other than the typical plain-ish brown refurbished product box, it was identical to a brand new camera - completely new and blemish-free in appearance.
